The Baltimore Association of Black Journalists’ October meeting focused on “Video Tips and Tricks.”

Independent Filmmaker & WBAL-TV Master Control Operator Justin Gladden and Philadelphia Tribune’s PhillyTrib.com Digital Editor Nicki Mayo co-hosted the video tutorial Oct. 28, 2017 in the first floor meeting room at WBAL-TV/Radio located at 3800 Hooper Ave.

More than 15 people showed up for the interactive workshop that demonstrate different ways to shoot video using mobile devices. Mayo reviewed basic best practices and minor add-ons that can help members shoot and edit on their mobile devices. Gladden also showed the group how to improve lighting and audio for mobile video. The group also tackled apps that help edit and share content.

This was an opportunity for members to ask questions and learn from one another. Mayo and Gladden reviewed the following:

  • How do I put lower-thirds on my video?
  • Is there a way to eliminate noise in my cell phone interview videos?
  • How do I get my live shot video on instagram?
  • How do I record a Skype/Google Hangout interview?
  • What are my Facebook Live options?
  • How do I make a video package on my phone? This will be a hands on experience so bring your mobile devices (cell phone and tablets), cameras, laptops and questions.
