2015 BABJ Holiday Hangout


Tis the season to spread some holiday cheer and ring in the New Year here in Charm City. The Baltimore Association of Black Journalists will host our 3rd Annual Holiday Hangout, Toy & Coat Drive Friday December 18, 2015,  7p.m.  – 9p.m.  #BABJHoliday

NOTE: Admission is free. We just ask that you donate a toy/coat or adopt a child’s wish list AND come hungry and ready to purchase various items from the Teavolve menu.

The annual holiday “party with a purpose” will take place at Teavolve Cafe & Lounge, Harbor East, 1401 Aliceanna St. Baltimore, MD 21231.

We also teamed up with Philanthropix to benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities. (View photo gallery here)

In 2014 BABJ collected gifts at Teavolve for the “It’s Kindertime” Toy Drive. (View photo gallery here)

Now in 2015 we are returning to Teavolve to collect donations for the Penn-North Kids Safe Zone in Sandtown.

Here’s how you can help.

3 Ways to help #BABJholiday help the Penn-North Kids Safe Zone

 

  1. Buy a wrapped gift and indicate “boy” or “girl” on gift tag and bring it with you to #BABJholiday.
  2. Adopt a child for the holidays. There are 100 Kids Safe Zone children who have each submitted a list of 4 items that they want or need this holiday season.  If you want to adopt a child: email Ericka Alston at ealston@penn-north.org and CC (carbon copy) BABJ at babjmd@gmail.com requesting a child to sponsor. Feel free to share a child’s expenses with another BABJ member to cut costs. Please put “BABJ Penn North 2015 Holiday Giving Drive – YOUR NAME” in the subject line.

    EXAMPLE: To: ealston@penn-north.org, babjmd@gmail.com
    Subject: BABJ Penn North 2015 Holiday Giving Drive – John Doe.

  1. Donate to the winter coat drive for adults and children and bring it with you to #BABJholiday.
